JSON files can be loaded back in later with Import. Markdown files are just a nicely formatted document — they can't be imported back.
"Add to current list" keeps what you have and adds the imported notes. "Replace current list" completely overwrites your current notes and trash with the imported data — this can't be undone, so choose carefully.
